By his own admission, Les Darlington is best regarded for being the husband of Cheryl – maker of some of the finest fruitcake in the land. And Fishpool can vouch for the quality of said cake. God, it’s good…really, really good..
Back to Les though, and he’s a man who knows a thing or two about fishing. His first cast was made half a century ago in the River Nidd in his native Yorkshire, and he has had a love of running water ever since. Today, Les is happily retired and living in Worcestershire, where he walks off his excess cake consumption on the banks of the Severn and the Teme, catching barbel and chub, and bailiffing on behalf of The Barbel Society. Bumping into Les on the riverbank is a joy, and should he be willing to share his lunch, alls the better.
