About Fallon’s Angler

We’re never lost for words…

Fallon’s Angler is about the quality of the writing, not the quality of the angler, or the quality of the fish. Our aim is to produce the finest angling magazine we possibly can while cherishing the soul of angling.

Fallon’s Angler is a PRINT ONLY* fishing magazine that celebrates the telling of the angling story through original, long-form writing with a strong, narrative and visual feel, and avoids the incessant barrage of tackle and tactics.

Often described as “being more like a book”, Fallon’s Angler appears four times a year with an average of sixteen articles per issue, giving the reader a rich variety to sink their teeth into over 100 pages of the most beautiful paper that is glorious to the touch. Covering subjects from coarse, game and sea, it’s all down to the skill of the writer to convey the magic of angling.

We enjoy exploring the side streams……

We follow our own path to bring you only the best stories. We go off the beaten track, get our feet muddy, and throw ourselves into the deep to seek out the finest writers and give them a voice. Fallon’s Angler is nuanced, like a river.

We take a different view……

We believe strongly in keeping our magazine ad free. We believe that every story needs the space to be told properly and without prejudice.

We work hard to remain current……

We theme our issues to explore different aspects of what angling is all about. Each issue is carefully balanced to reflect the richness of the world of angling.

The team

Editor Garrett Fallon left Ireland for London in the late 1990s, and has designed magazines ever since, working with some of the leading editors and publishing houses in the City of London. The only other constant has been his interest in fishing, which he doesn’t do nearly enough. He now has a caravan in a bluebell woods, close to the coast in East Sussex, with a river on its doorstep.

Deputy Editor Kevin Parr is a writer, angler and amateur naturalist. His books include The Quiet Moon and the critically acclaimed Rivers Run. He is a regular contributor to BBC CountryFile Magazine and Podcast, long-time angling correspondent to The Idler magazine and has written for The TelegraphThe Independent and Caught by the River among others. He lives in West Dorset with a colony of grass snakes a few paces from the gate and has been the Deputy Editor of Fallon’s Angler since 2018.

Picture Editor Nick Fallowfield-Cooper has worked as a commercial and editorial photographer in London since the early 1990’s, but now spends more time shooting documentary films, especially on the subject of angling. Nick writes about the outdoors and has written for Caught by the River, The Great Outdoors magazine and here at Fallon’s Angler.
