The Diver is a small farm pond, hidden deep in the apple orchards of Kent. It is a tiny, seemingly insignificant bowl of water, with a ring of lilies around its deep centre. It is also full of small carp, rudd and roach, and a great little water to afflict a young child with their first fishing bug. The weeds make it important to cast accurately, but fishing right under the rod tip, into a hole in the lilies, and a youngster will never tire of the steady stream of suicidal fish that take their bait, with the possibility of something bigger entering the fray. It is unspoilt, serene and magical, with nothing in it larger than three, possibly four pounds.
