Tom Fort began fishing on the Lodden in Berkshire at the age of eight, pursuing ruffe and small perch. He became a journalist on leaving university, first working on local newspapers and later for the BBC. He wrote a fishing column for the Financial Times for 12 years, and has contributed to magazines including Waterlog and Trout and Salmon. He left the BBC in 2000 to write books and has published seven works of non-fiction. His latest book, The A303: Highway to the Sun, was made into a film for BBC4.
