Barbus Barbus

IMG_2778Regular readers of Bits ‘n Pieces will have had their taste buds tickled in recent weeks with talk of Cormorant soup and Heron pudding. Such delicacies require something decent to wash them down with, and having resisted the temptation to pull a Kingfisher beer, Fishpool has been sampling something rather more pleasant.

Butts brewery are based in West Berkshire and specialise in the production of organic ales. Their proximity to the River Kennet, and an angling brewer, led to the creation of Barbus barbus. It’s moderate in strength, at 4.6%, and really rather tasty. Plenty of hoppy notes but not too tongue tangling. It’s a dangerously drinkable beer. Hic.
