IMG_2265A perfect hand-sized fish, the dace (Leuciscus leuciscus) really doesn’t know it’s small. A six ouncer will twist its wiry frame in the current like a fish twice the size and the speed at which they dip a float is perfect for sharpening one’s ninja reactions. But it also takes the fly, and makes excellent predator bait when needed, so is a pleasant friend of all anglers.
